ALL HANDS ON DECK
Skate Board Competition
While attending Lynn University, I had the opportunity to participate in a unique event hosted by the Communication and Design Department called the All Hands on Deck skateboard competition. This creative initiative invited students to design and customize their own skateboards as both artistic and functional pieces. I entered the competition with a skateboard that I personally hand-painted, using vibrant colors, shading, symbolism, and tragedy to express my individual artistic style.
After completing the design, my skateboard was submitted for judging by a panel that included Lynn University professors as well as a professional skateboarder from Boca Raton, Florida. Having my work evaluated by both academic and industry voices was a valuable experience that pushed me to refine my creative process and attention to detail.
As a result of the competition, my skateboard was selected for exhibition and displayed in the Lynn NFT Museum, where it remained on view for a full year. This gave me the opportunity to showcase my work in a public, digitally integrated space and contributed to my growth as a visual artist and designer.
