My Graphic Design Journey
Growing up, as soon as I learned how to pick up a crayon or a pencil, I knew I loved creating art. It never really mattered what kind of art I was doing—as long as I was making something, I was happy.
During my senior year of high school, I took as many different art classes as I could, thinking it might be my last chance to fully get to embrace myself in it. When I started college, I originally chose to major in business, thinking that was the "practical" route. But I quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit for me.
That’s when I discovered the graphic design. It allowed me to stay connected to art while still working in a business-oriented environment—creating designs for different brands, whether they’re fun and funky or sleek and professional.
One of the things I love most is how I can bring my photography into my graphic design work. Being able to intertwine the two things I’m most passionate about makes the creative process even more meaningful for me.
My Photography Journey
I first got into photography when I was about six years old, using my Papa’s small digital Sony camera to take photos just for fun. Not long after, I started helping my Grandpa photograph my brother’s hockey games. That’s when I discovered my love for sports photography.
In high school, I took a film photography class and fell in love with the process all over again. I enjoyed experimenting with chemicals in the darkroom and learning a completely different side of photography. Then in college, I began working with my school’s marketing department, where I served as both an assistant and lead photographer for headshots, campus events, and sports games.
During my junior year, I had the opportunity to photograph the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Hockey Team. That led to photographing my own school’s hockey team at Lynn University. These experiences eventually helped me land a graphic design internship with the team, where I created social media posts, flyers, and other promotional materials. Through that role, I helped boost their social media presence and attract more fans, sponsors, and donors.
While I have a strong passion for sports photography, I also love connecting with people during one-on-one photo shoots. Meeting individuals from different backgrounds and working with various businesses has opened my eyes to the many creative opportunities that photography can offer.
